Frequently Asked Questions

What happens on the flying day?
With a flying experience you will receive a briefing before the flight where you will have an opportunity to ask questions. When airborne, your instructor will invite you to handle the controls of the aircraft and experience the thrill of flying.

Can I extend my flight?
If you want to extend your flight length, please call for a quote and availability. If your flight is in one of our Tiger Moths, flight extensions may be available on the day, but to avoid disappointment please pre book by calling the office during office hours on 01604 492 222 (09:00 - 15:00).

What happens if it rains on the day?
Flying in vintage aircraft is weather dependent and sometimes flights are cancelled due to adverse weather conditions such as rain, low cloud and high or gusty winds. It is your responsibility to check the weather by calling the mobile phone number of your instructor, provided in your confirmation letter, before you leave for your flying experience. We endeavour to schedule your flight at a time that will allow you to check the weather before you leave for your experience. If you feel that you need to leave home earlier than 08:30 please call the office to re-book your flight time.

What should I do on the day?
On the day of your flight, please call the telephone number in your confirmation letter to check on the weather and aircraft serviceability.

When do you fly?
Due to weather conditions in the United Kingdom the main flying season is from April to October. For your optimum enjoyment we recommend "summer" flying. Airfields in winter can be wet and cold and availability is also limited, especially for vintage aeroplanes. We are often fully booked up to 6 weeks in advance so we strongly advise booking as early as poossible - however, last minute space is sometimes available, so please call.

Can I bring friends and family to watch?
Guests are extremely welcome at all venues. However, facilities for food and beverages do differ at each venue. All airfields have "garden" areas where your friends and family can see Delta's aeroplanes (and others) coming and going. Whilst you are welcome to take pictures, we often have to limit photograpbers in close proximity, i.e. next to the aeroplane. Guests with video cameras will be restricted to the "garden" area at all venues. All airfields have disabled access. If you have any questions about accessibility at any venue then please ask beforehand.

What should I wear on the day?
You need to be comfortable on the day so casual clothes, trousers and soft shoes should be worn. For Tiger Moth flights we will lend you the rest of your "Biggles" outfit.

What happens if I can’t make my flying experience?
If you fail to turn up on your pre-booked flying day then you forfeit your flight. However, if you are ill, please send us a doctor’s note and we will re-book your flight.

Can I take pictures?
You may take pictures of our aircraft but cameras are not allowed in the cockpit.
