With
a flying experience you will receive a briefing before the flight
where you will have an opportunity to ask questions. When
airborne, your instructor will invite you to handle the controls
of the aircraft and experience the thrill of flying.
If you
want to extend your flight length, please call for a quote and
availability. If your flight is in one of our Tiger Moths, flight
extensions may be available on the day, but to avoid
disappointment please pre book by calling the office during office
hours on 01223 874346 (09:00 - 15:00).
Flying
in vintage aircraft is weather dependant and sometimes flights are
cancelled due to adverse weather conditions such as rain, low
cloud and high or gusty winds. The weather line is active from
08:30 on your flying day and is updated periodically during the
day as weather conditions change. It is your responsibility to
check the weather line before you leave for your flying
experience. We endeavor to schedule your flight at a time that
will allow you to check the weather before you leave for your
experience. If you feel that you need to leave home earlier than
08:30 please call the office to re-book your flight time. The
weather line number is 0870 446 0747 and is an automated
menu-driven system. If you have any questions or concerns on your
flying day press "9" when you call the weather line to talk with a
member of staff.
On
the day of your flight you must call the telephone number given at
the time of reserving your flight experience to check on the
weather and aircraft serviceability.
Due to weather
conditions in the United Kingdom the main flying season is from
April to October. For your optimum enjoyment we recommend "summer"
flying. Airfields in winter can be wet and cold and availability
is also limited, especially for vintage aeroplanes. We are often
fully booked up to six weeks in advance so we strongly advise
booking as early as poossible - however, last minute space is
sometimes available, so please call.
Guests
are extremely welcome at all venues. However, facilities for food
and beverages do differ at each venue. All airfields have "garden"
areas where your friends and family can see Delta's aeroplanes
(and others) coming and going. Whilst you are welcome to take
pictures, we often have to limit photograpbers in close proximity,
i.e. next to the aeroplane. Guests with video cameras will be
restricted to the "garden" area at all venues. All airfields have
disabled access. If you have any questions about accessibility at
any venue then please ask beforehand.
You
need to be comfortable on the day so casual clothes, trousers and
soft shoes should be worn. For Tiger Moth flights we will lend you
the rest of your "Biggles" outfit.
If you fail to turn up on your pre-booked
flying day then you forfeit your flight. However, if you are ill,
please send us a doctor’s note and we will re-book your flight.
You may take
pictures of our aircraft but cameras are not allowed in the
cockpit.
