| Wycombe Air Park History |
The airfield was known as Marlow Airport and was originally requisitioned by the Air Ministry in 1939 and opened in 1941 as RAF Booker. Since that time it has been home to No 21 Elementary Flying Training school, The University of London Air Squadron and Bomber Command Communications Flight. Later, it was developed as civilian Wycombe Air Park. In 1965 the airfield was used for the making of "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines" and in 1975 "Aces High" was also filmed here. Since then it has been the backdrop to many a film sequence, movie and advertisement. The long-term lease of the airfield is now held by Airways Aero Associations Limited which is a wholly owned subsidiary of British Airways which operates the Air Traffic Control, the Rescue and Fire Fighting Services as well as the ramp, fuel, general administration and British Airways Flying Club.
